"She'll Bolt!" Acclaimed Feminist Germaine Greer Does Not Think Meghan Markle Can Stand Being A Royal Wife For Long

Date April 17, 2018

The feminists are finally speaking on the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marriage, and some of the verdicts are not optimistic at all. Acclaimed feminist and writer Germaine Greer had some things to say about the royal wedding on CBS' 60 Minutes.

Meghan's first marriage

Greer's statement comes as no surprise, because Markle is vocal about her stance on gender equality.

Not much is said about the former actress' personal life beyond her dysfunctional relationship with most of her siblings. But, it is known that she was married to the film producer, Trevor Engleson, for 2 years, before they separated.

They had been together for 7 years - they began to date in 2006 - before their 2011 marriage. When they divorced in 2013, it was quiet and controversy free. They only cited irreconcilable differences.

Greer's predictions

Greer did not mince words when she said Markle would 'bolt' from her marriage to Prince Harry, because she would see 'vistas of boredom that are unbelievable'.

Greer, who is the author of the best-selling feminist bible, The Female Eunuch, and a leading voice of the second wave feminist movement, cited Markle's first marriage as an example.

The 79-year-old outspoken feminist said Markle had given up too much of herself to make the marriage viable.

This comes as Prince Harry takes on a new role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.

In his first speech, he gave a nod to 'the woman he is about to marry' and said specifically that she would join him in his role.

An astrologer disagrees

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's May 19 wedding fast approaches, it would seem that Greer is not alone in offering predictions about the wedding.

Bustle spoke with a Connecticut-based astrologist, Janet Booth, who contrary to Greer, thinks Markle and her prince are suited for each other based on the placement of their signs. She believes that their May 19 date could not be more perfect.

It remains to be seen, but we wish the couple to be all the happiness they deserve.
