Daniel Craig celebrated another milestone in his life as he turned 50 on Friday, March 2.


The Chester-born is widely-known by his role of James Bond. He’s been portraying the famous MI5 spy since 2006. In honor of his birthday, let’s talk about some facts about the British star that you probably didn’t know about.

    • Craig has distant French Huguenot and Welsh ancestry. Among his many ancestors are Huguenot minister Daniel Chamier and Sir William Burnaby, 1st Baronet.
    • Daniel is the shortest James Bond in the series. He is 5ft 10in tall.
    • The actor confessed that he is not a fan of blood and fights. He prefers romantic comedies.


    • Craig once mentioned that he hates blue swimming trunks from the cult episode in the movie Casino Royale that made many women swoon.
    • Skyfall, with Craig, was the first James Bond film to win several Oscars and collect more than $1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing 007 film.

Personal life

Daniel Cried has been married to actress Rachel Weisz since 2011. They went to the altar just six months after they met on the set of the film Dream House.

Weisz told in an interview with ES Magazine that she thinks that Bond should be played by a male actor after Craig’s departure as it was before.

[Fleming] devoted an awful lot of time to writing this particular character, who is particularly male and relates in a particular way to women.

Craig will appear in his final Bond movie in 2019. It’s not known yet who will become his successor.
