Finding Hope.

The world first learned about Ryan Holets last year, when the man and his wife, Rebecca, adopted a baby girl from homeless parents who suffered opioid addiction. Officer Holets met the girl's mother just a few weeks before she was born, and eventually, decided to adopt her and give her a chance for a better life.

In October, the Holets, who already have four children of their own, welcomed a little angel – Hope Holets. Because her biological mother continued to use severe drugs even during her pregnancy, the girl was born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and had to undergo a special treatment.

Today, little Hope is already almost four months old. She is healthy and enjoys her little trip to Washington, DC, with her new family.

President's guest of honor

On Monday, January 29, The White House announced that Holets and his family would be among the special guests of President Trump and the First Lady, during the upcoming State of the Union address. The statement says that Holets is “breaking down walls between drug addicts and police officers to help save lives.”

Along with the Holets family, Donald and Melania Trump welcomed several other individuals whose actions inspire others and encourage them to try and make this world a better place.

It is a great tradition to recognize regular people for their life-changing actions and letting the country know its heroes. And what do you think about it? Leave a comment and share your thoughts with us.
