Jill Zarin of The Real Housewives of New York City has suffered a terrible loss – the reality show star just lost her beloved husband to cancer. For several years, Bobby Zarin was trying to combat the insidious disease. The man has passed away on January 13, 2018. He was 71.
Living with the “love of her life.”
For anyone who saw Jill and Bobby together, it was obvious just how madly in love they were, even after spending decades together.
Just recently, the couple celebrated another wedding anniversary.
The RHONY alum often shared their common pictures on social media, referring to her husband as the “love of her life.”
And at every photo, they were always smiling and hugging each other with pure love and admiration shining in their eyes.
Bobby's long battle with cancer
Unfortunately, their incredible love story had a dark and sad side to it – Bobby's years-long battle with cancer. The man was first diagnosed in 2009. Cancer affected the man's thyroid so Bobby had it removed and then underwent radioactive iodine treatment, reports People.
For the next few years, Jill's husband remained in remission. Cancer returned in 2016, this time, affecting Bobby's lungs and brain.
The man underwent another surgery to remove the brain tumor and spent a lot of time in the hospital. And through all these harsh days, Jill always remained at his side.
The RHONY alum also used her Annual Luxury Luncheon to raise money for thyroid cancer research. Jill hoped it would help not only Bobby but also other people trying to combat this disease.
Unfortunately, Bill lost the battle with cancer.
On Friday, January 13, Jill shared the sad news on her website.
With the heaviest of hearts, we are devastated to share the news that our beloved Bobby Zarin passed away peacefully today surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. There are no words to describe how heartbroken we are. Thank you, everyone, for all your love and support during this difficult time.
A few days later, Jill posted a series of her pictures with Bobby, paying a sweet tribute to her late husband.
Rest In Peace my love. Words can not express the hole in my heart. Bobby taught me what true and deep love is. Thank you my love for sharing your life with me.. for raising Allyson as if she was your own, being an amazing father and grandfather and teaching me how to be a better person. You inspire those around you to be the best they can be. I will never forget you... your legacy lives on through your beautiful children and grandchildren . I will continue to raise money and awareness for ITOG ( international Thyroid Oncology Group) so maybe this won’t happen to the next guy who draws the proverbial short straw. I will continue to honor you and make you proud . You taught me so many lessons. I will turn the lights off when I leave a room and try not to lose my keys! Lists! Yes I will make lists now that you can’t remind me. Thank you to all our friends, family and fans for the most incredible love you have shown our family. The messages bring tears to my eyes and will continue reading them all in the coming weeks. I will continue my tribute in the coming days and weeks and if you want to share anything please leave messages. Tomorrow is the funeral so I will sleep now. Love Jill
His stepdaughter, Ally, also shared a few common photos with Bobby, as well as some of her memories of him.
We ❤️ Bobby... thank you for giving me such a wonderful family and being the most incredible step-Dad anyone could ever ask for. I don’t remember a time without you, and you will not be forgotten. Every shot of patron, every time we listen to Hotel California, every vroom of a Ferrari you will be right there with us. You fought with dignity and courage, surrounded by all of us with love and respect till the very end. You can rest In peace now, we love you so much. Service held on Monday 10am January 15, 2018 at Riverside Memorial, 180 West 76th st.
