Recent Royal Family Photo Was Taken By Mom From Norfolk On Her Smartphone's Camera

Date December 27, 2017

When the British royal family attended the Christmas Day service in St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, they were greeted by hundreds of citizens, tourists, and, of course, photographers. Everyone was trying to capture the special moment but only one person managed to take a photo, which would later appear on the front pages of majority of national newspapers in the UK.

Surprisingly enough, that person was not a professional photographer but a regular mom from Watlington, Norfolk, Karen Murdoch.

Furthermore, the 39-year-old did not even have a professional camera – the picture that made her famous (and brought her some money as well) was taken on iPhone, reports BBC.

It was pure luck - I took it on an iPhone and it was a great photograph.

It was a great photograph indeed. As the royal photographer at The Sun Arthur Edwards admitted, Karen's shot was one of the best images of the day. In fact, the picture was so good it ended up on the front pages of British national newspapers, including The Sun.

I rang her up to congratulate her on getting the front page of the Sun today.

The expert added that they had about two dozen professional photographers at the event in Sandringham, but Karen “scooped us all.”

So, what was so special about the picture that was taken by Karen? Take a look at her original tweet posted on Christmas Day.

You see, the picture has all four royals – Prince William, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry – looking directly at the camera and smiling naturally as if they were posing for a lovely family photo.

Eventually, social media users advised Karen to hire a lawyer and negotiate a price for permission to use the image.

The woman says she is going to use the money to fund her daughter's education. What a great way to use the unexpected income from a lucky shot, isn't it?
