Actress Gal Gadot was recently at the Hollywood Reporter’s 2017 Women in Entertainment breakfast where she surprised one lucky lady with a special scholarship.
A real-life Wonder Woman
Gadot is a pretty interesting woman. In fact, we can refer to her as a real-life wonder woman. Why do we think so?
Well, first of all, after winning the Miss Isreal 2004 at the age of 18, she took time off from pageantry to serve in the Israel Defence Forces as a combat trainer. Afterwards, she went to college before pursuing a career in modelling and acting.
Gadot skills in combat training certainly helped her in her role as Wonder Woman. She was able to do her own stunts which were physically intense.
Speaking of stunts, did you know Gadot did some of her most intense stunts while she was pregnant? She tried to hide the pregnancy off the set because she was worried that she would be treated differently. However, by the time she was five months pregnant, the bump was hard to hide but it was edited out during post-production. You cannot tell us that the idea that Gadot was wielding a sword in a battlefield with a bun in the oven does not make you want to applaud her.
The actress is passionate about feminism, military service, and helping other women. So, this makes her, in our book, a totally awesome Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman Scholarship
The gorgeous Gadot surprised a hard-working student at the breakfast event she attended on December 6th. She presented her with a full college scholarship which came as a huge surprise.
The four-year, full-ride Wonder Woman Scholarship to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles went to Carla Arellano.
Gadot expressed her joy and pride at being able to present the award. She said:
I’ve had the privilege of portraying a superhero onscreen, but the young women here today are the real superheroes. They’ve overcome so many challenges in their lives, and they’re driven to do more. They’re the true leaders of tomorrow.
Gadot also explained that Carla started studying at the university a few weeks ago, however, a lack of funds was, before now, her biggest problem. She described Carla as a strong-minded woman who wants to be a screenwriter one day.
Her professors, mentees, and everyone who have met her, including Gadot herself, were deeply impressed by how smart and passionate she was. However, like "many other great young women in this program, her education is hanging by a thread," due to lack of financial support.
The scholarship came as a surprise to Carla who was very grateful to the actress and to Warner Brothers, the company that donated it.
The young lady was very emotional when she came out to receive her scholarship. It was obvious it meant the world to her. Watch the heartwarming moment in the video below.
Gal Gadot is a talented and inspiring lady who uses her platform as an actress to elevate and encourage other women. Seeing her change someone's life like this is truly a joy to behold.
