Royal Family Announces Date And Venue For Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Wedding

Date November 30, 2017

On Monday, November 27, The Prince Of Wales announced to the world that Prince Harry and American actress, Meghan Markle, are officially engaged. In the statement it was revealed that the wedding will take place sometime in the spring of 2018. For the past couple of days people have been itching to learn more details of the royal wedding and, thankfully, the family came through.

The royal wedding details

The British royal family announced that the wedding would take place at Windsor Castle in May 2018. According to a statement by the Kensington Palace, the couple chose Windsor as their venue because it was a "special place for the two of them."

Harry's communication's secretary, Jason Knauf, confirmed this update saying that Harry and Meghan spent time together at Windsor, a royal residence west of London, during their 16-month courtship. Knauf added:

They will be making sure it reflects who they are as a couple.

It was also revealed that Markle may become a British citizen, although it's too early to say if she would retain dual nationality.

The wedding date was probably carefully considered so it would not clash with another major event in the royal family - Kate Middleton's childbirth. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby is expected to arrive in April 2018.

In a post-engagement interview, the couple opened up about how they met and how their love blossomed over the last 16 months. Watch video below.

Future place of residence

At the wedding, the "Suits" actress will attain the position of the fourth patron of The Royal Foundation. This is a charitable organisation set up by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Harry.

It was also stated that the couple would live in Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace, which is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently residing.

Fans can now look forward to the royal wedding which would come up in a few short months. Clearly, preparations are underway as everyone anticipates the big day.
