It was a very hard period for Kimmel and his wife Molly. At first, the parents kept Billy’s condition in a secret, but then, Jimmy decided to tell about his son’s disease. In one of his live monologues, the host took a chance and thanked the doctors and all medical staff of the hospital for taking care of his sweet angel.

Months later, in his interview with Oprah Winfrey, Kimmel made a confession, which was very difficult for him to talk about. The host said when he found out about Billy’s condition, he didn’t want to get too close to the boy at first.

Kimmel didn’t want to upset his beloved wife. There was a secret they kept from each other and opened up only after the second surgery. Molly confessed she felt the same at that point. Jimmy told Oprah:

I think subconsciously, we didn’t want to get too close to the baby because we didn’t know what was going to happen.

It was definitely an uneasy confession for Jimmy and Molly, but the host says he’s glad they did it. Fortunately, little Billy is recovering now. The boy feels much better; he is very curious about everything around him.

In April 2018, Billy will celebrate his first birthday. This brave kid knows how to battle difficulties despite his so young age. We wish Billy and his parents all the best.
