Florida's tragedy

On Wednesday, February 14, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The killer used AR-15 rifle. This horrifying tragedy has no rational explanation as it breaks our human nature from inside.

President's solutions

After a talk with victims’ parents and other representatives, Mr. Donald Trump said he is open to several ideas, which can help to solve “the school shooting issue”.

  1. Increase in the age requirement for buying a gun.
  2. Stronger background checks of all buyers.
  3. Improving mental health care.
  4. Arming teachers.

As for the last idea, many people are strongly against armed teachers for many valid reasons.

Bringing more guns into our schools does nothing to protect our students and educators from gun violence. - Lily Eskelsen García, president of the National Education Association

More children would die from accidental shootings if teachers were armed than from school shootings. - Bill Bond, former principal of Kentucky’s Heath High School

Support the movement

Michelle and Barack Obama tweeted “we’ve got your backs” as they sent messages to all fighting students via Twitter.

As a matter of fact, Hillary Clinton also joined the Obamas and supported the students with the tweet of her own.

Students definitely deserve to live and study in peace. They are actively fighting for gun reform. However, they cannot change anything on their own. Adults need to step up!

What do you think of the solutions proposed by Mr. president? Do you agree with them? What is the best way of dealing with school shootings once and for all?
