Sexual abuse scandal

Weinstein, 65, the former Hollywood mogul, was dismissed from his own company and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after more than 80 women in the film industry have accused him of sexual misconduct. Now, Weinstein Co. is almost ready to file for bankruptcy and is trying to sell its assets.

The scandal, which is called “Weinstein effect,” formed a true movement against sexual abuse and harassment, #MeToo. A lot of women share their experience of sexual assaults on social media under hashtag #MeToo. An organization against sexual harassment, Time’s Up, was founded on January 1, 2018, by Hollywood celebrities.

"Casting Couch"

On March 1st, a golden statue of Harvey Weinstein sitting on a golden chaise couch and holding an Oscar was erected in Hollywood. The product of collaboration between two street artists Plastic Jesus and Joshua “Ginger” Monroe was called “Casting Couch.”
