The pain behind the fame

Emilia's journey to the top and fame has not been without challenges. One of the most heartbreaking experiences of her life was when she lost her father. On July 10th, 2016, her dad passed away from cancer.

Her father was a theatre sound engineer and it was his behind-the-scenes work that got Emilia interested in acting in the first place. The actress was in Kentucky when she got the news that his health was deteriorating. She had to finish up on set early, but unfortunately, by the time she returned to London, it was too late. Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said:

I definitely think I'm still in varying degrees of shock. There's no measure for it. There are all of these books about grief, but there's no guide. Like, 'Oh, on Tuesday, you'll feel this, but on Thursday, you'll be here.'

Despite a very painful time for her, Emilia had no choice but to get back to work. A few weeks after, she had to begin filming the seventh season of "Game of Thrones" series.

She was able to find the inner strength to survive the difficult time. She did admit that the experience threw her off balance but it also "made me re-evaluate who I am."

Emilia's strength, talent, and beauty have won the admiration of millions of people across the world. We are sure that this young lady would continue giving us many more reasons to fall in love with her.
