One Of A Kind: Royal Jeweler Won't Be Taking Orders For Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring Replicas

Date December 11, 2017

As we continue to look forward to the upcoming nuptials between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, we enjoy finding out more titbits of info about the couple and their wedding plans. For instance, not only do we now know how special Meghan's engagement ring was, now we are finding out that it really is one of a kind, meaning, there will never be any like it.

The ring

When a person gets engaged, one of the first things we want to see is the ring. So, it makes sense that after the American actress said yes to being a royal princess, we just had to know exactly what the ring looked like.

The ring featured three diamonds. In the centre was a gorgeous diamond from Botswana. The couple had visited this country and their experienced shaped their relationship. The Botswana stone was flanked on each side by two diamonds which came from the personal collection of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.

One of a kind

If you're someday hoping to make yourself an exact replica of Meghan Markle's wedding ring, you're out of luck. According to Stephen Connelly, director of Cleave and Company, the makers of Meghan's ring, they will not be making replicas.

Connelly revealed that since the royal engagement, the company has been besieged with requests from people who want to make a copy of the bride-to-be's ring.

He told Associated Press, "we’re not going to be making replicas of it. If you want a ring, then we’ll design you a different one.” He added that they were quite shocked by all the requests.

We can certainly see why making a similar ring to Meghan's would be close to impossible. Prince Harry himself had to source the diamond in Botswana and he was very specific in terms of what he wanted.

Another representative of Cleave and Company, David Thomas, equated the relationship between them and the soon-to-be-wed couple to that of a doctor and a patient. In other words, they would not be answering any questions about the cost of the ring or any other inquiry that violated the couple's privacy. He added that working on the ring was the “biggest and hardest secret” he’s had to keep in his life.

The wedding dress

Speaking of Meghan's big day, the actress may have, last year, given hints about what her ideal wedding dress would be like.

In an interview with Glamour Magazine in 2016, she mentioned that her favourite designers were Elie Saab, J. Mendell, Delphine Manivet, and Christos Costarellos.

Describing what she would be most comfortable in, she said:

Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist. I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic.

Whether she would go for one of these designs, only time will tell. All we can do is wait for the big day. The wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will take place in May 2018.
