Olivia Hooker, The First African-American Woman To Enter The U.S. Coast Guard, Turns 103
February 14, 2018 09:54
Olivia Hooker is the first African-American woman who was brave enough to have entered the U.S. Coast Guard.
When she was a girl, she thought all people are good, and there’s no reason to be afraid of them. However, after the Tulsa Massacre in 1921, she changed her mind. Her house was ransacked, but she survived and later was seeking reparations for those who survived it as well.
