Queen Elizabeth II (92) has been the British monarch since 1952, making her the longest reigning monarch in British history. The longest reigning Monarch in British history probably has a lot of stories to tell about what happened during her long reign. Queen Elizabeth II still leads an active and exciting life and serves her country the best way she can. However, as you all know, pictures tend to be worth a thousand words.
Her Majesty's childhood
On the 21st of April, 1926, Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born and was at the time the third in line to the throne. As the daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, she was prepared for her royal duties since her earliest childhood.
She was brought up by her nanny, Clara Knight, who was a strict woman, by the orders of Elizabeth's grandmother Queen Mary. However, the British Monarch was also once a child like everyone else, and she had a questioning spirit and love for animals.
The Queen and her sister, Margaret, played just as any other children would have. She loved her late sister dearly and was quite shaken-up when she passed away in 2002.
Young princess had all a child could want in her yard: bicycles, toys, ponies, and cute dogs. It could be that her affection towards the canines came from then as today, she is still a proud owner of several corgis.
Queen Elizabeth II was and still is a great lover of animals. During her reign, she has emphasized multiple times the importance of keeping our planet safe for the wildlife.
Her first "royal" duty was the appearing at her father's coronation after the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936. Furthermore, with the abdication, she's become the heir apparent of the British Monarchy.
As a part of the British Girl Scouts, she became a Girl Guide, and with this "rank" she saw the start of WWII.
Coincidentally, the end of the war marked the end of her childhood. She grew up into a smart and beautiful young woman and had already received several duties from her father. It was as if she was being prepared for the King's illness and her coronation in 1952.
Married life and coronation
In November 1947, she married Prince Philip of Greece, and the two of them became the Dutchess and Duke of Edinburgh. They have four children together, but the photos from their early childhood are rare. Here you can see that despite their royal background, Tolstoy was very much right when he said that all happy families are alike.
After her father's death from lung cancer in 1952, it was Elizabeth's time to shine. She was crowned the queen, and therefore given the task she was prepared to do her whole life.
As if being a queen wasn't enough, she balanced her private life and raised her children always with that recognizable smile on her face.
The Queen today
After many years of ruling, the Queen is still looking great as ever. Sure, she had her ups and downs, but the leading figure of Great Britain has never once shown weakness and is already one of the greatest women in history.
Queen Elizabeth II has been the British monarch since 1952, making her the longest reigning monarch in British history. And we wish Her Majesty continued health and happiness in the years to come!
