The style and splendor of British royal jewels are well known around the world. Queen Elizabeth II has displayed a lot of it on numerous occasions. Furthermore, the Queen has been more than generous in lending the jewelry to her granddaughter-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Relationship between Kate and the Queen
Even though William and Kate have been dating since 2001, it wasn't until 2008 that Kate actually met the Queen. The two have hit it off right from the start, and the monarch has since shown friendship and appreciation for the young Duchess of Cambridge.
On a trip to Leicester during the filming of the Our Queen At Ninety documentary, Kate was basically alone with her mother-in-law. As Duchess recalls, it was then that she was profoundly touched by how caring the Queen is towards her.
The fact she took the time to make sure that I was happy and looked after for that particular occasion, which probably in everything that she's doing is a very small element, it shows just how caring she is really.
Necklaces that Kate Middleton borrowed from the Queen
The incredible Nizam of Hyderabad diamond necklace was a wedding gift from an Indian potentate in 1947.
The Spain State dinner in July this year was the perfect opportunity for Kate to wear the stunning King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau necklace.
The so-called Four Row Japanese Pearl necklace was a gift from the Japanese government to Queen Elizabeth II. Kate wore the piece for Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth's platinum wedding anniversary.
What do you think of this gorgeous diamond collet necklace? The Duchess borrowed it for a diplomatic reception at the Buckingham Palace.
How great is it that jewelry never goes out of fashion? Members of the royal family can present them to each other for centuries!
