4 Years And A Child After, Hoda Kotb And Joel Schiffman Are Thinking Of Marriage
What a beautiful time to be Hoda Kotb! The 53-year-old Today show co-anchor opened about her exceptional past year on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. And while being promoted to replace Matt Lauer on the NBC morning show was a historic moment, Hoda rates becoming a mom as the highlight.
Celebrating four years of bliss.
For years, the Today audience only knew of Hoda Kotb's boyfriend as "Boots." When Kotb talked with her co-host Kathie Lee Gifford about her nights out or vacations, she'd mention her partner but never, by name.
On January 20, 2015, Kotb was forced to introduce the world to her man when British tabloid The Daily Mail, published photos of the couple on the beach.

One factor that helped to make her dream come true was the reaction of her boyfriend of four years, Joel Schiffman.
Kotb and Schiffman have been dating for four years; Schiffman has a daughter of his own from a previous marriage who is now in law school.
Talking openly and candidly about the possibility of adoption was something that solidified their relationship.
Here comes the bride?
For Hoda Kotb, there’s no such thing as “too late.” She sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on her show to chat about everything from her new gig to her adopted baby girl, Haley Joy, to her relationship with her boyfriend, financier Joel Schiffman.
When DeGeneres asked Kotb, whether she and Schiffman, 59, would ever consider getting married now that they are raising a daughter together, the morning talk show host was all smiles.
Maybe, we might. I feel like everything’s great. He’s Haley’s dad. I’m Haley’s mom. We’re together. I feel like there’s not a rush other than we’re old, and if we’re going to do it, we might as well do it. I think it’s fun like this. I don’t mind it. We’re doing our lives. Yeah, I think we’re good this way.

The light at the end of the tunnel
Finding out she was going to become a mom was a thrilling experience for the longtime journalist.
She recalled the moment on Ellen. In 2017, Kotb shared her emotional journey with breast cancer and how the treatment left her unable to have children.
I had thought about having kids for a long, long time,” Kotb explained. “But one day I was sitting with my boyfriend, and I said to him, ‘I’m going to have to talk to you about something because I can’t push it down anymore, push it away.’ I said, ‘Don’t answer now. Take a day, take a week, take some time. But I want to talk to you about this.’ And he said, ‘OK, what is it?’ And I said, ‘I would like to explore adoption with you.
Hoda noted that Joel is about to turn 60 himself and has a daughter who is in law school.
“He looked at me and said, ‘I don’t need a day,’" she said. “And I knew I’d chosen the right man.”
We are so happy Hoda and wish her all the best in planning for the wedding when they eventually set a date.
