Meghan Markle Could Be The Next Bond Girl, But She Became 'Unattainable' Due To The Romance With Prince Harry

If you are a fan of the James Bond movies, then you should be pretty familiar with the Bond girls. Like the iconic character, these women remain a permanent feature in every single Bond movie. The original Bond girl was Ursula Andress from Dr. No (1962), where she starred alongside Sean Connery.

Since then, there have been 75 Bond girls in total. They appeared either as allies or enemies of James and continue to play a significant role in each installment.

2012’s Skyfall was an exception that saw two Bond girls instead of one. Bérénice Marlohe played Sévérine, while Tonia Sotiropoulou played an unnamed lover to Bond, Daniel Craig.

In 2016, the role was played by Eva Green in Casino Royale. She was Vesper Lynd, assigned to keep an eye on James' poker fund.

Meghan was considered for the role

Although there are no confirmations, speculation was rife that Meghan had been penned down as one of the potential actors to be the next Bond girl. It is believed that her sterling performance in the TV legal drama Suits was the reason why she was mentioned.

Meghan has been a part of the show since its debut 7 years ago but will not be continuing in her role in 2018. This is largely due to her withdrawal from some vocations, particularly acting, as she prepares for her nuptials with Prince Harry. It is widely believed that this is also the major reason why Meghan is no longer in contention for the Bond girl role.

A source revealed to The Sun:

Producers had narrowed down her and four other actresses on a shortlist last year with Bond 25 in mind. But the minute her relationship to Harry came to light they assumed she was out of the running so it soon became a list of four. Her engagement effectively spelled an end to her acting career too so that was the final blow.

The romance is strong

Even with the stark reality that her acting career is well at its end, Meghan Markle seems to be taking it all in her stride. She also recently shut down her lifestyle blog and has indicated that she is focused on integrating with her future home, England. And the couple looks so happy together in public.

She may still be the Bond girl who never got to appear beside James, but in real life, she has gotten her swashbuckling hero.
