Date January 24, 2018 12:29

Kristen Bell regarded herself as the first lady at the SAG Awards 2018, and she has every reason to say that.

About the SAG Awards 2018

The SAG Awards is an acronym for Screen Actors Guild Awards, which holds every year since its inception in 1995. Like its peers, the Emmy, the Golden Globe, and the Oscars, the SAG Awards honors people for exceptional performance in film and television.

This year’s event was held at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, California. The distinguishing mark of this ceremony was its host, actress Kristen Bell.

The show also had all-female presenters in solidarity with the "Time’s Up" movement.

Highlights of the night

Kristen Bell opened the show with these uplifting words:

We are living in a watershed moment in time and as we march forward with active momentum and open ears, let’s make sure we are leading the charge with empathy and diligence because fear and anger never win the race.

Puerto Rican actress, dancer, and singer Rita Moreno was another female star that stole the show. The Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar recipient was moved by the standing ovation she received from the audience.

Oh my God!”, she exclaimed at the boisterous reception,

That’s a lot of love, but I can take it.

She humorously added before going on to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to her friend, Morgan Freeman.

Julia Louis Dreyfus was not present alongside her colleagues to accept the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. But her co-star, Matt Walsh, in his appreciation speech on behalf of the cast of the show, teased:

I’d like to thank Julia, of course, our leader, who is unfortunately not here, sorry about that.

A history-making event

Beginning from the red carpet, the excitement of the fans was big, and they started using social media platforms to generate memes, jokes, and conversations surrounding guests and nominees of the event.
