Tina Turner, Queen, And Some Other Performers Are The Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees

The Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award honors artists who have made exceptional and groundbreaking achievements in recording. Recently, the list of 2018 honorees was released.

The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Tina Turner, Queen, Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Hal Blaine, and Louis Jordan among others will be honored this year. Speaking about the honorary awards, the CEO of the recording academy Neil Portnow added:

"This year's Special Merit Awards recipients are a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have crafted or contributed to some of the most distinctive recordings in music history."

List of honorees

On the list of honorees, there are music legends who have made great achievements in the music and recording industry.

Tina Turner

The American-born Swiss singer and songwriter known as the queen of pop started her career in the late 1950s. Having sold more than 50 million copies of her albums worldwide, little wonder that she's on the list of honorees.

Neil Diamond

The singer-songwriter, whose list of songs includes “Cherry Cherry”, “Red Red Wine”, and “Holly Holy", has sold over 130 million copies of his albums during his musical career. The singer has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Queen

The rock band was formed in 1970, and its members included Freddie Mercury (until his death in 1991), Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor.

The band's popular songs are "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions". Having been active for over 40 years, the group has become a household name in the Rock and Roll industry.
