3 Faith-Based Christmas Movies To Help Families Keep The Reason For The Season In Focus

Date December 26, 2017

Over the years, mainstream Christmas movies have evolved into something that now focuses on holidays, Santa Claus, and romance. Thus, the true meaning and essence of Christmas have been carefully removed from the screens during this season.

As such, we have picked three faith-based Christian movies that contain the message of the birth of Jesus, the savior of the world, and are ideal for this season.

Here are 3 movies you can watch this period to keep you and your family abreast of the reason for the season.

1. Christmas Angel

This movie seeks to reveal who angels really are in line with Biblical views. At the same time, it tries to create a blend of faith, romance, and kid’s activities to tell a story suitable for the entire family to watch.

It centers around a little girl and her friends who veered into the occult, believing the myth that their prayers and wishes could only be granted at an abandoned house.

It stars the late Della Reese as well as Teri Polo, Kevin Sorbo, Izabela Vidovic, and Tamera Mowry-Housley, and was directed by Brian Herzlinger.

2. By God’s Grace

Many of us are already familiar with Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” so we tend to look for something different to watch instead. The movie “By God’s Grace” is a great option to consider, especially if you enjoyed “A Christmas Carol.”

This one tells the story of a man named Chris who lost his sister on Christmas Eve and eventually turned away from his Christian faith.

Unlike being visited by three ghosts as in the case of “A Christmas Carol,” Chris has a completely different supernatural encounter that jolts him back into the faith.

The movie was directed by Brett Eichenberger and stars Savannah McReynolds, Jillian Clare, and Cameron Deane Stewart.

3. Christmas In The Smokies

Although Biblical verses are not expressly quoted in the movies, this film features a healthy dose of Christian lessons on forgiveness and love to inspire the viewers.

It is a romantic drama that tells the story of a Christian woman who fights to save her family farm after an ex-boyfriend appears 20 years later.

There are subtle references to “heavenly hosts” and “Christ the Lord” littered all over the movie that was directed by Gary Wheeler.

It stars Danny Vinson, Sarah Lancaster, Barry Corbin, Alan Power, and Jill Wagner.

Pick up any of these and have a nice time with your family this holidays. Don’t forget to let us know what you liked the most about them when you must have watched them.
