Community Demonstrates Its Support By Helping A Toddler To Fight Cancer

Date December 21, 2017

Despite the challenges, people are faced with on a daily basis and the calamities happening around the world; we can't just sit down and watch people go through stuff without lending a helping hand.

The feeling that we have to do something to ease their pain just goes to show that our humanity is still intact and it is still good in the world.

That was the feeling little Eden and her parents felt when paintings and drawings of fairies started showing up on little Eden's hospital room.

Eden Eyre's story as she battles cancer.

Eden Eyre was at the age of 2 when she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on the 6th of July 2017. Neuroblastoma is a kind of cancer that is commonly found in the adrenal glands.

The moment Eden was diagnosed with cancer, a Facebook page was set up to create a bit of magic for her journey while in Great Ormond Street Hospital London. Being diagnosed with Neuroblastoma means this little angel will sadly spend a lot of time in the hospital undergoing Chemotherapy.

Kind gestures of fairies around the world.

The moment people got wind of Eden's struggles, gift cards and paintings, drawings along with good wishes by people kept trooping in to show their love and support for little Eden.

Our beautiful little unicorn has been full of smiles and laughter tonight. Even though she's wired up to a machine and feeling tired... Your kindness has made her smile which has filled our hearts with magical sparkles.., her parents wrote.

The love and support shown by people all over the world Eden's mom said have restored her faith in humanity. Eden is now back home with her family after undergoing a high dose chemotherapy at the Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

 Value of community support

Although the fight is far from over as little Eden is scheduled for radiotherapy in the New Year, immunotherapy in mid-2018 and hopefully a vaccine treatment in New York. As people all over the world kept pouring out love and showing support for Eden Eyre, the family thanked everyone for their gifts and wished them a Merry Christmas.

Eden's story and struggle with cancer and the way the world responded just goes to show that we must not lose faith in humanity. "Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty".
