Practical Tips On Maintaining The Work-Life Balance

The modern world becomes busier, and people always lack time to do various things. With 40-hour working week and other problems, the phrase, “I am too busy; I don’t have enough time,” seems to be very actual now.

In fact, it has almost become a thing of pride to say “I am busy.” It feels like a mark of seriousness and dedication. Yet, we can tell that this isn’t exactly the way forward.


Here are two practical steps you can take to help you create that balance between your work and personal life.

1. See the big picture.

Often, being too busy is an indication that we haven’t really set our priorities right. It shows that something is missing in our lives. We are either asking the wrong questions or focusing on wrong things.

For example, instead of asking yourself, “how much money do I want to make?” you might want to ask “what kind of life do I want to live?” When you have goals, it is easier to plan your entire life around them or that big picture you have created.

But, most people determine how much money they want to make, then they consider how much work they need to perform to obtain that amount. At the end of the day, nothing is left of their day for other important things.

2. Follow the rule of balanced model.

If there is one word that describes God, it is “balance.” He is an expert of creating balance but we usually take the opposite approach.

God worked for 6 days and rested on the seventh for a reason. He wanted to show us the right model and right example. It’s called the principle of rest.

There is something about resting that literally resets your system and increases your performance. Dedicating at least one day of the week to rest is an absolute necessity for you as well. You can even set aside some hours of your day to be completely detached from work and start focusing on other important priorities.


Moreover, when you get too busy with work and can’t find the time for other things, it is not only your personal live suffers, but your health does as well.

Your work is only part of your life. Do not ruin everything because of your busy schedule. Look around and see other beautiful things.

Determine what is important to you and build your life around these things. You will see that your work-life balance will improve since then.
