Kate Winslet Found Her Love In Extreme Conditions. This Experience Helped Her Greatly Perform In A New Film

Date December 18, 2017

In The Mountain Between Us, Kate Winslet and Idris Elba play plane crash survivors who fall for each other while trying to survive in snow-covered mountains. As it turns out, Kate had personal experiences of finding love in a life-threatening situation, which helped her with her role.

Winslet meets her husband

The actor confessed that she believed in the story of two people finding love under extremely dangerous conditions. She opened up about meeting her husband in a house fire 6 years ago.

He was a complete stranger, we met, and then the next day the house burnt down.

In 2011, Winslet, together with her two children, was on a vacation on Richard Branson’s Necker Island. No one expected that a luxury villa they stayed in would be struck by lightning and consumed by fire. Her now-partner, Ned Rocknroll, was staying in an adjacent residence and helped them survive. The two got close and finally got married a year later.

Dangerous situation on screen

Kate for sure relied on her experience while starring in the drama. She projected her emotions and feelings onto the movie characters who formed a bond to survive harsh climate and wilderness.

In reality, the actor recalls that The Mountain Between Us was shot in really tough conditions. The location was extreme, and the temperatures sometimes dropped to extreme low level.

Family support

After the shooting, the actress always wanted to come back home to her children and husband. And her family joined her, turning her work into the vacation. During the breaks, they played in the snow, skied, and skated on the frozen rivers. Indeed, family support is everything a person needs after a tiresome day.

Knowing this beautiful story, we all look forward to seeing Kate's amazing performance in her new drama.
