Carrie Fisher's Adorable Dog Recognizes Her On Screen, Even Though She Is No Longer With Us

Date December 19, 2017

It is almost a year since the legendary TV star, Carrie Fisher, passed on. She will always be fondly remembered by millions of fans around the world, especially for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise.

Upon her sad demise, she left behind her loving dog, Gary. The dog has been holding up pretty nicely since he lost his owner and he is well taken care of. Gary was recently taken to a screening of The Last Jedi, and witnesses note that he seemed to perk up every time Carrie appeared on screen as General Leia. The adorable pooch had a prime spot, watching the entire movie seated with Fisher’s former assistant.

The anticipation for the new movie has been building and even Gary was not left out of the excitement. In this photo from his Instagram, he is seen staring intently at a TV screen while a trailer for the movie plays.

The creators of The Last Jedi also paid tribute to this furry fellow in the new film. Director, Rian Johnson, has confirmed that the alien creature in this picture is inspired by Gary. It may be a long shot from having Gary, the Space Dog. Still, it is a warm reminder that the community still cares for him.

Gary was a therapy dog for Carrie, and he helped her greatly through the troubling times leading up to her death. He is a constant reminder of the grace and charm that this Hollywood icon was and still is.
