Possible Reasons Why Pippa Middleton Has Disappeared From The Spotlight

Date February 13, 2018

Pippa Charlotte Middleton is the younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge or Kate Middleton. She is an author and also writes columns for different publications.

Her first major soiree with the media started when she stood as her sister’s chief bridesmaid at the royal wedding.

Earlier on in her career, she worked as a public relations professional. Subsequently, she found work as an events manager with Table Talk. This was in 2008. Despite her seemingly regular life, the press already found her intriguing.

The same year she was named by Tatler magazine as "the Number 1 Society Singleton", beating singer James Blunt and Princess Eugenie of York. Amusingly, she earned the title not for being a guest at social gatherings but for being the caterer.

Pippa is also a philanthropist. She became an ambassador for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in 2014.

Since then, she has participated in several charity events to raise money for the BHF. In 2015, she auctioned out a fabulous L.K. Bennet dress she owned to raise money. Her second book Heartfelt was released in 2016, and Pippa donated the proceeds to the BHF.

Why she is no longer in the news

It may come as a surprise that the buzz around Pippa has steadily declined since her wedding to James Matthews last year. Even more so, with the approaching wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, most members of the royal family are getting more coverage but not Pippa.

Well, several months after the royal wedding in 2011, it was rumored that media houses were battling to publish Pippa. Eventually, she signed a six-figure book deal for her first book, Celebrate. By 2013, she took an offer from Vanity Fair, and her first column was published.

However, reviews for the book were far from pleasant, with many critics signing it off as a poor attempt at writing. According to the Toronto Sun, “Celebrate is a wishy-washy version of Martha Stewart crossed with the Kraft Canada website.

Pippa expressed her sadness:

I have felt publicly bullied a little bit just when I read things. It is quite difficult because I'm just trying to pave my way and try to live a life like any 30-year-old.

Since the release of the first book, Pippa gradually slid out of the public. Her writing for Vanity Fair also slowed considerably. Till date, she only has six articles to her credit.

There are suggestions also that the royal family may also be partly responsible for Pippa’s withdrawal. It is said that they avoid controversy as much as possible, and this is just one of such unpleasant incidents.

Others speculate that her husband, James Matthews, may be the real reason Pippa has retreated. Duncan Larcombe, a former royal editor at The Sun, thinks differently.

I just think now she’s happy and happily married, settling down...she seems to have put all of that behind her at the moment.

Her relationship with James Matthews

Pippa and James were first seen together in 2012. They attended a dinner date at the upscale restaurant. But by February of the following year, the relationship was over, and Pippa moved on, dating Nico Jackson. Her new relationship lasted about three years.

And by January 2016, the lovebirds were back together. And in March, they went on a holiday to the ski slopes in Lillehammer, Norway.

Their engagement made the news in July of 2016, and by November, famous designer Giles Deacon was spotted leaving Pippa’s house in London. All pointers suggested she was already starting preparations for the wedding.

The couple announced the date for their wedding in April of 2017. And to make sure the royal family was a big part of the wedding, they chose Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, to be the page boy and little bridesmaid.

Their wedding in May was a spectacular event. Pippa was never keen on having a royal wedding so she planned most of her wedding herself with support from James. The church ceremony, was held in St. Mark’s Church in Englefield (near the Middletons’ hometown of Bucklebury).

And for the reception, the couple had a magical glass palace shipped in from Belgium and erected on the Middleton family grounds. Several royals, including soon-to-wed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, were also in attendance.
