Leonardo DiCaprio began acting as a child, bagging a role on the TV show The New Lassie (1989). By 2001, he had gotten the attention of American viewers and transitioned to the big screen with his debut in the direct-to-video movie, Critters 3.

His first ever Academy nomination was for Best Supporting Actor and came as a result of Eating Gilbert Grape (1993). But the one film that saw DiCaprio becoming a household name is his 1997 film Titanic. The film broke worldwide box office records and shot this charming star to fame.
