With spring and prom season around the corner, a young Maryland woman's viral post on social media has prompted dozens of women to donate or lend their dresses to strangers.

She's giving out her prom dress for free

Thinking nothing of it, 19-year-old Mika Riddick from Maryland was feeling nostalgic and posted a throwback of herself from her high school senior prom just two years ago.

Realizing that prom season is right around the corner, Riddick decided to tweet out that she was donating her dress to a girl in need.

Riddick’s tweet has since been liked nearly 28,000 times and retweeted by more than 10,500 users.

The generous teen, who works at a local bank in Glen Burnie, Maryland, revealed that she decided to donate her prom dress because she knows so many young women who are struggling financially.

They’re paying a thousand college fees or maybe working overtime to give their paychecks to their families.

Following Riddick’s offer, other girls felt motivated to join in and donate their prom outfits for those in need as well.
