One of the most terrifying moments for any pet owner is when their beloved friend goes missing. There are so many terrible things that can happen to a lost pet in the world, and it is obvious that you start worrying about your dog or cat. A family in New York recently experienced that paralyzing fear and concern when their dog, a 1-year-old Beagle/Labrador, Buddy, went missing for three weeks.

Buddy's family, the Humphreys, had to leave the dog back at home when they went to Disney World. Using a pet-sitting app, they were able to get someone to care of Buddy during their vacation.

A few days ago, they received a devastating call from the sitter that Buddy had bolted out the door and ran away. They immediately contacted Wag, the app they used to find the sitter, and asked them to help search for their dog. The company ended up issuing a pet amber alert and even offered a reward of $1,000 to anyone that can help find Buddy.

Buddy's owner, Mary Ellen Humphery, was not happy at all. Not only did they lose a beloved family member, but Buddy had become best friends with her 4-year-old son Jack, who is deaf. Thus, such situation could lead to many broken hearts.

Mary did everything in her power, including hiring a drone operator and a team of canine trackers. They put up fliers everywhere and even had to seek permission from the town mayor to keep the fliers on the streets after city officials started asking them to remove this information.

Luckily, this story had a happy ending as one day, a neighbor found Buddy sitting patiently by one of the fliers that had his face on it. She immediately contacted the family, and the Humpherys were reunited with their dog once more.

We cannot really put into words the feelings of relief and pure joy one experiences when a lost dog returns home. A few months ago, an 11-year-old boy, Rocco, was devastated after his dog disappeared. Fortunately, this particular reunion was caught on camera, and we can catch some glimpse of the happiness Rocco felt when Jack, his German shepherd, returned home.
