"It's What You Stand For That Defines You." Angelina Jolie Talks About The Empowerment Of Women

Date October 18, 2017

Angelina Jolie was recently asked to share her thoughts in a special 150th-anniversary edition of Harper's Bazaar. The actress and filmmaker used the opportunity to write about some of her experiences as a humanitarian and also encouraged women to follow their goals. Angelina always shares her thoughts about life and world around. And here are some best of her quotes:

She began by presenting the life of women 150 years ago. She went on to talk about how far we have come and how much further we still have to go.

"This is not about progress for women at the expense of men," she stated, "but about finding an equal balance that benefits everyone."

She reminded readers of the importance of making the right choices today as our great grandchildren may benefit or suffer due to the decisions we make.

So whoever you are as you read this—a doctor, lawyer, scientist, human rights activist, student, teacher, mother, wife, or boy or girl flipping through your mother’s copy—I hope that you will join me in taking time today to think about how we can all contribute to making a better future.

Jolie also reflected on the possibilities of what the next century and a half will bring. Considering the fact that technology will become more and more advanced than our imagination can conjure, she hopes that more people will take advantage of that.

If my life experience has taught me anything, it is that what you stand for, and what you choose to stand against, is what defines you. As the San people say, you are never lost if you can see your path to the horizon.

Angelina Jolie is an incredible humanitarian. She has visited and provided assistance for displaced people in over 20 countries, including Iraq, Sierra Leone, and Afghanistan. She has helped build schools, clinics, and donated money, thus allowing children in most of these regions to get an education.

Jolie has also led campaigns against violence in military conflict zones and founded the Jolie Legal Fellowship, which is a network of lawyers and attorneys who are sponsored to advocate the development of human rights in their countries.

Love or hate her, this is a woman that has used her celebrity status to promote peace in the world. She is also championing the movement of women's right in different countries.
