Hopkins' portrayal of Hannibal the Cannibal, the brilliant doctor and sadistic psychopath, earned him an Oscar for the Best Actor in a Leading Role. Hopkins is obviously a dedicated actor and interesting person. Like the rest of us, he has gone through his share of struggles but overcame them. It is one of the reasons people consider him an inspiration.
