Christian Baker Refused To Make A Wedding Cake For A Same-Sex Couple Because “It Violates Her Beliefs”

A Christian baker has been in a legal battle with a same-sex couple when she refused to make them a wedding cake.


“I will not make a wedding cake for people like you”

The story, which happened in California, literally hit the Internet and caused a huge public reaction. A Christian baker, Cathy Miller, owns her Tastries Bakery in California. The lady is famous in her town as she makes true sweet masterpieces.

In front of the upcoming wedding, Mireya and Eileen Rodriguez-Del Rio decided to order a wedding cake from Cathy Miller. However, they were rejected in their order. Miller refused to make a wedding cake for the same-sex couple.

The Christian woman said it would violate her beliefs:

If we’re not able to follow our conscience we’re no longer able to be who God created us to be. I am incapable of doing something that would hurt my Lord and Savior.

Mireya and Eileen addressed to the court to prove they deserve the same respect as any other couple. They complained to the California Department for Fair Employment and Housing.

In her turn, Miller addressed to the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, which advocates religious and family principles.

After the trial, a judge ruled for Cathy Miller and said she has her right to refuse to make a wedding cake for the same-sex pair. The judge added:

A wedding cake is not just a cake in a Free Speech analysis. It is an artistic expression by the person making it that is to be used traditionally as a centerpiece in the celebration of a marriage.
