It’s hard to imagine our favorite movies with different main actors. It seems that nobody else can replace the lead characters in the iconic films.

These seven celebrities turned down the roles in the legendary movies and they still regret a lot doing such a big mistake.

1. Gwyneth Paltrow - Titanic

Probably all the cast of “Titanic” is really happy for shooting in the movie which became a true masterpiece of cinematography. “Titanic” has got 11 Oscar awards and it still remains the hit of the film industry of the entire generation. But not all people know that Gwyneth Paltrow was the first in line to play the rich girl, Rose, but for some reason she refused to take the part.

Later, Gwyneth told that unfortunately she can't change her decisions but she believes her choice was made for something greater.

2. Katie Holmes - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Today, Katie Holmes is most known as the wife of popular actor, Tom Cruise. But we could also know her as Buffy the Vampire Slayer if she hadn’t turned down the role many years ago. 3. Hugh Jackman – James Bond

Jackman is a successful actor who played in many great and popular films. But the actor confessed he still regrets turning down the role of the agent 007.

That’s right Jackman was approached for the role of James Bond after Pierce Brosnan, but the actor turned it down. He explained he was too busy featuring in “X-Men:”

I was about to shoot X-Men 2 and Wolverine had become this thing in my life and I didn’t want to be doing two such iconic characters at once.

4. Meg Ryan – Pretty Woman

Meg Ryan was approached for the role in “Pretty Woman” before Julia Roberts. At that time, Meg was more popular actress than unknown to anyone, Julia. Ryan explained her refusal in a simple way - she didn’t want to play a prostitute.

Some people may say it was a funny coincidence that Kate Winslet turned down the role in “Shakespeare in Love” which was offered to Gwyneth Paltrow afterwards. Probably, it was a fate for Paltrow to play in Shakespeare instead of “Titanic.” Winslet explained that she wanted to focus on independent films and for that reason she declined the role.

7. Sandra Bullock – Million Dollar Baby

Sandara Bullock is one of the most prominent actresses who has a ‘large baggage’ of the greatest film roles. But there is one movie which made her regret turning down the part in it. It is “Million Dollar Baby.”

Bullock declined the role because of her schedule – at that period she was involved in another project “Miss Congeniality 2.” The movie failed at the box office, while Hilary Swank won Academy Award for her play in “Million Dollar Baby.”
