67-Year-Old Woman Takes Pole Dancing As Her Hobby, And Eventually Becomes A Champion Across The Globe

Greta Pontarelli, 67, took up pole dancing as her hobby aged 59. Today, this incredible woman has claimed five world champion titles against dancers as young as 18.

Life after retirement just begins. Great Pontarelli from California was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 59. The woman began searching for a way to strengthen her bones and prevent her condition from spreading further. The solution came out unexpectedly: Greta decided to try self-forces in pole dancing.
Pontarelli started by watching YouTube videos that taught her the basics. Then, she decided to join a class. Greta was surprised to discover that she was the oldest one in her group, but it didn’t stop her. On the contrary, the woman called pole dancing “her Everest”.
Greta worked very hard following her dream. Now, almost 10 years later, she’s become a champion in pole dancing across the globe. Pontarelli appeared in America Ninja Warrior in 2012. When it aired, a show host said she was the oldest person to ever attempt the course. But her age just helped motivate Greta.
In an interview with Senior Planet, Greta said:
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. You see life through a different lens as your age. I believe seeing things from that vantage point enhances your intuition and quality of life.
Greta constantly shares her success with her Instagram followers. Her main goal is to encourage other people to conquer their own personal victories. She explains:
I always hear, ‘I’m too old, too heavy, too this, too that,’ which I understand, because I’ve been there, too. But those are all just excuses.
