Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Suffered From Depression Since He Was 15, But Now, He’s Finally Healed

Today, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is one of the most successful Hollywood actors and professional wrestlers of all times. But his life was not always rainbow and trouble-free. In his recent interview with The Express, Dwayne confessed he was battling depression for many years since his teen age.

‘I was devastated and depressed’

We got used to seeing Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in a good mood and all smiles. The star constantly shares joyful and inspiring posts on Instagram, and some people may think he has no worries at all. But sometimes, the things are not what they seem.

In an interview with The Express, Johnson confessed he suffered from depression since his early years. He said:

I was devastated and depressed. I reached a point where I didn't want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly.

How it all began

Johnson began to suffer from depression when he was 15. At that time, his family lived in poverty, which was the reason for the constant fight between Dwayne’s parents.

When Johnson was just 15, he witnessed his mom Ata’s suicide attempt. Fortunately, young Dwayne appeared in the right place at the right time and saved his mother. The actor told about that sad incident to Oprah:

She got outta the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road.

Ruined dream

15-year-old Dwayne was dreaming to become a famous football player when he grows up. But after a serious injury, he had to quit his dream to play in the national football league. Johnson recalled that period of his life:

 That was my absolute worst time.

All these influenced the young boy a lot. Probably, there was too much stress for a teen in his age. Nevertheless, ‘The Rock’ proved that he is made of stone after he found the inner strength to beat his depression and move on.
