‘Easter Bunny’ cake

Ingredients

To make a cake, you will need:

  • 2 1/4  flour;
  • 1 c milk;
  • 2 tsp. almond extract;
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract;
  • 1 3/4 c granulated sugar;
  • 4 tsp. baking powder;
  • 1 tsp. table salt;
  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter.

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare two 8-inch cake pans.
  2. Make sure milk is room temperature.
  3. Mix milk, cake flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt with the help of the electric mixer at slow speed. Add butter and continue beating for about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly into two prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Allow cake to cool to room temperature.

To make a topping, you will need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 batch buttercream;
  • 1/4 cup black buttercream;
  • 1/4 cup pink buttercream;
  • white and pink candy melts;
  • black fondant (will be used for the eyes).

Directions:

Melt about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of candy melts directly in a plastic pastry bag. Melt in microwave for 30 seconds until completely melted.
