New Mother In The Family: How Princes William And Harry Met Camilla After Diana's Death

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, had a difficult time entering the royal family. After the death of Princess Diana, she had to find common ground with Harry and William that is always hard for any stepmother. Let’s see how she accustomed to her new role and what obstacles she met on her way to nobility.


First impression

Prince Charles didn’t speak about Camila and their relationship before marrying Diana with the sons in the early childhood. However, they knew about his first love and noticed that their mother felt uneasy when the name of the Charles’ Lady was mentioned in the house.

The boys took after the mother’s feelings and lived with the anger towards the fatal woman, especially after Diana’s death.


Prince Charles had to work slowly and persistently to introduce Camilla into the royal family and make the relationships between his sons and the new wife smooth.

Stepmother's story

After their split in 1992, Charles tried to introduce his bond with Camilla to the princes, but the first attempt wasn’t quite successful: William even didn’t want to hear about that woman, so the Prince of Wales decided to postpone the conversation.

Five months later Diana died in the car accident, so Charles understood that was not the best time to develop his relationship. The year after William and Harry began to notice Camilla more often and what is more important, understood that the woman was making their father happy.

William first stayed with his future stepmother in 1998 during the dinner in the York House at St. James's Palace. Camilla’s reaction after the thirty-minute conversation was ambiguous:

I need a drink.

However, the next meetings were visibly easy, and boys understood the importance of the woman to their father.


In 2005 the couple got married, and Harry soon revealed his and William’s attitude towards Camilla:

She's a wonderful woman, and she made our father very, very happy, which is the most important thing. William and I love her to bits.

Warm relationship

Now their public relationships are really warm. Camilla got really close with Kate and was noticed to spend a lot of time with her. She even presented her a unique bracelet with the initials of the both on the sides. She also provided Kate with the guide on how is it to marry a person from the most famous family in the world.

We hope that the family’s relationship is genuine and is not simply a perfectly organized spectacle. We wish the royals to solve all their misunderstandings to continue pleasing us with their fabulous appearance.
