His ex-wife Ivana is from the Czech Republic and his current wife, Melania, is from Slovenia.

The Gist Of Trump's New Immigration Plan

In January 2018, Trump announced a new policy to replace Obama's DACA option. It offers a 12-year path to citizenship for 1.8 million immigrants who arrived in the United States illegally as children.

For the famous Mexico border wall, the policy sets aside $25 billion. It also ends the giving of green cards to distant relatives - only spouses and children will be allowed visas. Naturally, this policy will affect the lives of both old and new immigrants.

An interesting fact that is often forgotten is this: A lot of people who consider themselves Americans today have immigrant origins.

Know Your Celebrities Who Are Immigrants

Immigration has always been a tricky thing in the United States, but it has also created room for people to seek a different life from the ones they are used to in their countries. Interestingly, it brought Donald Trump's mother from Scotland to the US. It also brought two of the women he married.

A lot of celebrities we simply think of as 'American' are immigrants too. Even the ones you do not expect because of how Hollywood-ish they seem. Here's a list of your favorite stars who are actually from other countries.

Audrey Hepburn

The Breakfast at Tiffany's darling is not originally from the US. She was born in Belgium to a Bohemian father and an Austrian mother.

This one is easy only because Rihanna stays connected to her Barbadian roots and lets it show in her music.

See? A Successful Immigrant Is Possible

Asides from these celebrities, it is important to know that immigrants make up a large number of the workforce in the US. And, a number of them thrive even in unfavorable conditions. They work really hard, help each other out, and strive to make good use of the educational opportunities available to them.

It is not yet known how much Trump's new immigration policy will disrupt the lives of families who are currently affected by immigration issues. But, we hope they continue to do alright.
