Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Bruce Willis, And Other Celebs Who Lost Their Faith In God

Date March 21, 2018

Many of us were born and raised in religious families. And after many years, we still have our faith in God. However, sometimes people lose it. Celebrities are just people in the first place, and they have similar stories.

Celebrities who believe in God.

How many celebrities who believe in God do you know? And how many of them are visiting the church? We know that some of the greatest personas in show business are religious. For instance, Matthew McConaughey is a regular churchgoer. He even named his first son Levi, in honor of Matthew the Apostle.

Or did you know that Beyonce Knowles is also known to attend church services, at least when she’s not touring? Pastor Rudy Rasmus from St. John’s United Methodist Church in Houston is reportedly her pastor.

It is hard to believe, but Kim Kardashian is also a regular churchgoer. In fact, she often seeks shelter in the Life Change Community Church in Agoura Hills, CA, to hide from paparazzi.

Celebrities who lost their faith.

There are, however, celebrities who used to have faith but lost it somewhere in their lives:

1. Brad Pitt

He sang in the church choir when he was little, as he was raised by two devout Baptists. But now Brad says he is 20% atheist and 80% agnostic.

2. Javier Bardem

The actor was raised in a Catholic family but lost his faith when became adult. He says:

I've always said I don't believe in God. I believe in Al Pacino.

3. George Clooney

George is not that cheeky about religion and keeps it simple:

I don't believe in heaven and hell. I don't know if I believe in God. All I know is that as an individual, I won't allow this life - the only thing I know to exist - to be wasted.

4. Amber Heard

Former Johnny Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, wasn’t really talkative about the subject. She lost her faith at 16 after her friend died in a car accident. The actress says:

I'm not anti 'higher power' so you could call me agnostic. Whatever, call me anything but I will never be a religious person.

5. Bruce Willis

Die Hard actor attended a Lutheran church when he was young, but later became quite hostile to the organization by saying:

Organized religions in general, in my opinion, are dying forms. They were important when we didn't know why the sun moved, why weather changed, why hurricanes occurred.

6. Anne Hathaway

The actress was raised in a Catholic family. However, after her brother came out, the whole family converted from Catholicism. She told that:

The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out. Why should I support an organization that has a limited view of my beloved brother?

7. Seth Macfarlane

Although the actor also was raised by the Catholic parents, Seth rejected the church at the age of 11:

It's like the civil rights movement. There have to be people who are vocal about the advancement of knowledge over faith.

Peace and harmony

We believe that the religion is a matter of a personal choice. Despite being so diverse, people can coexist in peace and harmony. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white, believe in Jesus or Krishna, or don’t recognize yourself as a religious person. Love is a feeling that doesn’t have to be specified and labeled!
