Meghan Markle's Engagement Ring Was Designed By Prince Harry, And It Contains Princess Diana's Diamonds
News broke on November 27th, 2017 that Prince Harry and his girlfriend Meghan Markle were officially engaged after being together for 16 months.
For many months, people wondered when the couple would make things official, and now, it looks like things are moving in the right direction.
Their love story captured our heart from the start. Prince Harry himself once said that he knew Meghan was 'the one' from the moment they met. The 33-year-old royal was 'thrilled' when they were posed for their first pictures together as an engaged couple.
The engagement announcement
The news that the couple were going to be married was announced by The Prince of Wales. In a statement, it was mentioned that we can expect the royal wedding to take place in spring 2018.
The announcement also mentioned that the engagement actually took place earlier this month after Prince Harry received the blessings of the Queen and Meghan Markle's parents.
The engagement ring
Of course, whenever a couple gets engaged, we all have one question in mind. How the ring looks like? So, certainly, when it has to do with royalty, we're doubly interested.
Well, evidently, Prince Harry went all out for his lady's ring, which he reportedly designed himself. The ring featured three diamonds. The center stone is a diamond from Botswana, a country the couple visited several times and really love.
The two diamonds on each side came from the personal collection of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
To make Markle's ring, Harry dismantled the diamonds from his mother's Cartier watch and incorporated them into his vision as a way to pay tribute to his mother.
Prince William was the one who chose the watch at first, while Harry chose his mother's ring as the keepsakes after her death. However, they swapped when William wanted to give the ring to Kate Middleton. But clearly, this did not stop Harry from using his mother's jewelry in a creative way when his own turn came.
Now, fans and royal news followers can await the big day and look forward to when the prince and the actress will say their wedding vows.
