Ellen Pompeo actually made her acting debut for an episode of 'Law & Order' in 1996. She went on to act in various TV shows until she landed a real Hollywood role in 2004 'Daredevil' alongside Ben Affleck.

However, her defining role would come in the shape of the lovable doctor Meredith Grey on 'Grey's Anatomy'. She has been playing the lead role and the narrator since the beginning of the show in 2005.

Ellen Pompeo about aging in Hollywood

Recently, Ellen has revealed why she stayed on the set of 'Grey's Anatomy' instead of venturing out to Hollywood movies. Having had, as the actress says, a very late start in the industry, she landed her big TV role at 36.

Being well aware of Hollywood's constant hunger for young, new actresses, she knew it was difficult to find roles when you're in your late 30s and early 40s. However, it is a decision she hasn't regretted as she is very happy to be a part of 'Grey's Anatomy'.

I thought, ‘Why would I leave something that is super successful and pays me great to search the landscape?’ I decided that I would stay on Grey’s and be grateful and try to ride it out for as long as I could. And I am very happy that I made the decision to stay. It’s only gotten better with time.
